Rent Review
The department has extensive experience in advising both landlords and tenants on the rent review process, acting on properties across London and the south east. As experienced negotiators, with a fully up-to-date knowledge of case law, we are able to obtain exemplary results on behalf of clients.
All clients are provided with detailed advice on the rent review process, with regular contact from senior team members who personally handle each case. The team regularly acts on properties within the office, retail, restaurant and industrial sectors, but also has considerable experience in the leisure industry. On all Lease Advisory projects, we take care to understand the needs of the client and treat the event as an opportunity to add value.
The team regularly produces Expert Reports to Arbitrators and Independent Experts, liaising with leading Counsel on legal disputes and providing a comprehensive case management service. The team also boasts two members who are regularly appointed by the RICS to act as Arbitrator or Independent Expert in rental disputes.
Lease Renewal
The department has considerable experience in advising both landlords and tenants on the lease renewal process, both for tenancies protected by the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954 and those outside.
In these ever changing times, tactics are a very important consideration in any lease renewal and our in depth experience means that we have considered every type of scenario and are experienced in the best tactics to adopt. Close liaison with the client's solicitors is essential in the process in order to protect rights and ensure that the documentation is correct, reflecting the terms agreed.
The team are experienced in acting as Expert Witnesses both in Court and P.A.C.T (Professional Arbitration on Court Terms), although the principle objective is always to try and achieve the very best result by way of negotiation. The department is also very active in lease re-gearing, acting on behalf of both landlords and tenants exploring opportunities to add value to the landlord and tenant relationship.
Dispute Resolution
Paul Krendel, and Maggie Stobo are experienced rent review dispute resolvers acting as Arbitrator or Independent Expert. They regularly receive appointments from the President of the RICS and directly from the parties.
Disputed rent reviews are regularly determined on a variety of office, retail and industrial properties in Central and Greater London. Our dispute resolvers are used to dealing with difficult cases, sometimes involving complex legal issues, within the auspices of the Arbitration Act 1996 and also as Independent Expert.
All the partners also regularly act as expert witnesses before arbitrators, independent experts and in Court.
Paul Krendel is a former chairman of INDEX, the body representing Independent Experts, he and Maggie Stobo are active members of the committee. Maggie Stobo is also a member of the committee for ARBRIX.

Rob Smith
I’m an Equity Partner at Levy Real Estate and head of the Lease Advisory Team.
I formerly co-led the London Lease Advisory team at Avison Young, and have extensive experience of advising landlord and occupier clients with a particular focus on the Office and Industrial sectors. My specialisms encompass dealing with rent reviews, lease renewals and other advisory situations.
I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and away from work my interests include triathlons, golf and his being Head Coach of Old Grammarians U15s .

Raik Beyoglu
I’m a Partner in the Lease Advisory team at Levy Real Estate. I was previously at Avison Young where I started my career in 2013.
My experience and knowledge lies in advising both landlord and occupier clients on their rent reviews, lease renewals, surrenders and other key asset management opportunities. My main area of specialism lies within the industrial and office sectors. Some of my key clients include Logicor, Capital Industrial and Valor Real Estate Partners.
I am a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Away from work my main interests include keeping fit, continuing to learn golf and watching / playing football.

Roger Sharpley
I am a consultant at Levy Real Estate, having previously been a partner of the firm for many years.
I provide strategic advice to clients on a wide range of issues, particularly central London retail and restaurants, where I work closely with the Retail team, mainly dealing on the lease advisory side.
I am recognised as a Bond Street specialist, with clients who I have worked with including Victoria’s Secret, Canali, Galerie Bartoux, Richard Green, Mulberry and SJ Phillips, as well as private clients and Trusts.
I am a registered Valuer and a Trustee of The St James’s Conservation Trust, also being Chairman of The St James’s Neighbourhood Planning Forum.
Outside the office, I am a keen fly fisherman, enjoy playing tennis, and compete nationally at Masters swimming.

Greg Stalcup
I’m a Partner in the retail team focussing on the Central London retail and restaurant sectors.
I advise a range of clients on lease advisory, restructuring and leasing matters. Particular specialisms include providing strategic advice to clients on multi-unit estates or schemes to enhance value, securing vacant possession prior to redevelopment and acting as Expert Witness in high profile third party disputes. I work closely with the leasing team sourcing new brands and operators and am an expert on traditional and turnover leases. Over the last 18 months I’ve helped clients navigate their way through the coronavirus pandemic, restructuring c 40 retail and restaurant leases at Leadenhall Market to turnover arrangements and agreeing numerous COVID assistance packages to ensure retailers and restauranteurs receive much needed assistance and landlords keep units occupied and activated.
Outside of work I coach kids rugby at the weekend and enjoy spending time with my fiancé and two year old son. I played for the Honourable Artillery Company rugby club for many years and was a keen runner but have reluctantly had to shift my focus onto cycling and golf after sustaining a knee injury.
